The first tournament was organized by Harlingen, Texas attorney and resident Lee Wiley in 1982. The purpose of the tournament is to promote the sport of golf within our young people and to provide them with a local venue to test their competitive skills. The South Texas Junior Golf Classic is proud to be associated with the Southern Texas Section of the PGA of America. The event is open to the public. So, if you have a desire to watch what may be some future PGA or LPGA stars having a go at the Valley’s premier golf course, come on out!

The 2010 tournament came to a close on June 6th. More than 80 players from throughout South Texas participated. Congratulations to Roman Robledo, the Overall Boys Champion, and to Jessica Tamen who is the reigning Overall Girls Champion.
