The purpose of the tournament is to promote the sport of golf within our young people and to provide them with a local venue to test their competitive skills. The South Texas Junior Golf Classic is proud to be associated with the Southern Texas Section of the PGA of America. The event is open to the public. So, if you have a desire to watch what may be some future PGA or LPGA stars having a go at the Valley’s premier golf course, come on out!
The 2011 tournament came to a close on June 5th. Roman Robledo of Harlingen, Texas won the overall boy’s championship while Jessica Tamen of Edinburg, Texas captured the overall girl’s title. For the first time in the tournament’s history, both reigning champions can claim the honor of having won the event for the past three years. Congratulations!!!!
